Agility Classes

Agility I:
For dogs and handlers with no experience on agility equipment. We cover all of the obstacles used in most agility venues. Jumps and contact obstacles are performed at a low height while the dog and the handler learns correct performance for each obstacle. Basic handling skills and concepts are introduced toward the end of the session.

Agility II:
We focus on both dog and handler gaining experience with all obstacles. We still keep the contact equipment and jump heights lowered. We work on consistency of the dog's and handlers performance by continuing work on basic handling skills.

Agility III:
Work continues on refining handling skills, smoothing out transition points in coursework. We start running longer sequences, and work on developing course strategies.

Agility IV:
Teams in this class are working to enter, or are currently competing at novice-level classes in trials. We will work with growing student handling skills as well as helping develop confidence in both dog and handler.

Agility V:
This is an advanced class for dogs/handlers competing at the Open-level or above. We continue working on refining handling skills, and course analysis.

Obedience/Family Dog/Puppy

Puppy Social: This is a wonderful way to give your puppy a chance to play and socialize with other puppies that are 8 - 16 weeks old. Owners will need to stay for the first half hour to make sure the dog works in the structure of the class.

Puppy Class:
You and your 8 - 16 week old puppy will learn sit, down, come, stay and walk on a leash. Topics such as housebreaking, jumping up, chewing,and how to introduce your puppy to people and other dogs will be covered.

Family Dog:
Family dog class will help your dog become a good family member in your house. Sit, down, come, stay and walking nicely on a leash among other things will be covered. This class is not a formal obedience class.

Beginning Obedience:
Beginning Obedience will start you and your dog on the path to competitive obedience, as well as laying a good foundation for Agiliy and Rally. This is a more formalized type of obedience. Positive training methods will be used.

Rally:
START Learning the FUN way to practice Obedience!
Rally is a sport that involves doing obedience exercises at stations on a numbered course. The courses are different each time and the handler is allowed to encourage and praise their dogs. Since perfect heel position is not a requirement, a sense of teamwork between dog and handler is what is important. Whether you plan on entering competition or just want a fun and stress-free way to train important obedience skills……….. RALLY Obedience is the perfect solution.

Click Your Heels:
This is an unusual class and is meant to have lots of variety and fun.
Just like dog camp only close to home!
Each class will be a combination of:

GAMES

FREESTYLE

TRICKS

Each class will work on your dog’s focus and relieving stress, which will help at competition events whether you do agility or rally or anything! We’ll work on improving obedience skills while teaching tricks.
Having fun with freestyle moves and games will also be included.

Requirements: Dogs must be able to walk on a loose leash, sit, down, stay, and come when called.

CGC Class:
This class is designed to help handlers and dogs master the skills necessary to earn the AKC Canine Good Citizen award. Walking on a loose leash, coming when called, and other socialization and obedience concepts are addressed. This class is open to all dogs (including mixed breeds) who are at least 12 months old. It is recommended that dogs have previous exposure to classroom obedience training prior to enrolling. Students may participate in an AKC CGC Evaluation on the last night of class (test is optional, additional fee required). Dogs who successfully meet evaluation criteria will receive the distinctive Canine Good Citizen Award from the American Kennel Club.

The ten steps that must be passed to earn a CGC certificate are

1. Accepting a friendly stranger

2. Sitting politely for petting

3. Appearance and grooming

4. Out for a walk (walking on a loose leash)

5. Walking through a crowd

6. Sit and down on command/staying in place

7. Coming when called

8. Reaction to another dog

9. Reaction to distractions

10. Supervised separation

Doga - Yoga with your dog
This new class where you and your dog share the yoga experience. Join us for this new way to bond with your dog and help both you and your dog benefit from spending time of undivided attention with each other doing stretches, breathing, postures and massage.

Tricks for Clicks:
Want to do something else fun with your dog? Try this class which will introduce and hone your skills as a clicker trainer while we work on tricks to entertain yourself, your dog, your family and friends! A great way to enrich the relationship between you and your best friend!
